Philosopher's Path

Philosopher's Path

About

Winding along a scenic canal in northern Higashiyama, the Philosopher’s Path is a peaceful walkway lined with hundreds of cherry trees. It earned its name from Kitaro Nishida, a famous Japanese philosopher who walked this route daily as a form of meditation.

It's better to get up early to avoid the crowds if it’s sakura season.

Where to park bicycle

There's no need to park. You can ride your bike the entire way. However, especially during the cherry blossom season, there may be a lot of people here, so in some parts, you may need to get off your bike.
